A Consulate of France in Calgary [ fr ]

The Consulate of France in Calgary was created by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs by a decree of August 5, 2010.

- The Consulate will be responsible for the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

By creating a new consulate, the French government wishes to develop further its relations with Western Canada, a region of increasing importance. This is the first time that a consular representation has been established in a city between Toronto and Vancouver.

In addition to consular protection for French nationals in difficulty, either residing in or visiting Canada, the mission of the Consulate of France in Calgary will be dedicated to economic, political, cultural and scientific activities.

Mr. Jean-Charles BOU was named Consul of France in Calgary by a decree of August 26, 2010. He arrived in Calgary at the beginning of September 2010.

French Community

Consulate General of France in Vancouver is responsible for administrative services (registration in the consular records, requests for passports and French national identification cards, public records, notary services) offered to French nationals residing in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Please note: the French Consulate General in Toronto is no longer offering these services to residents living in Saskatchewan.

Services offered by the French Consulate in Calgary:

  • Certificates of existence
  • Pick-up of passports and national identification cards (requests for these documents must first be sent to Vancouver)

NB: The Consul General works out of Edmonton, in the Alliance Française building, approximately once a month.

French nationals residing in Alberta or in Saskatchewan should contact the Consulate General of France in Vancouver for the following administrative services:

  • Registration in the consular records
  • Passport requests
  • Requests for national identification cards
  • Public records
  • Notary services
  • Elections

Visa requests:

- Vancouver for applicants residing in Alberta AND Saskatchewan.

The Consulate is open to the public, by appointment preferably, every morning, Monday to Friday, from 9:00AM until 12:00PM. The offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays and during statutory holidays
