#FranceAlumniCanada launch

September 30th, 2015, marked the official launch of the Canadian section of the Alumni social network. This network aims to give Canadians who have previously studied abroad in France the opportunity to:

• Connect or reconnect with other international alumni;
• Share their ideas via discussion groups;
• Stay in contact with France and to follow its economic and cultural developments; and
• Develop a new network of contacts from the business world and the world of academia.

The launch ceremony will take place Wednesday, September 30th, 2015 at 5:30PM at the Embassy of France in Ottawa.

Guests will include:

 Bernard Landry, 28th Premier of Québec (2001–2003) and Sciences Po Paris alumnus
 Serge Dupont, Executive Director representing Canada at the IMF (Washington) and ENA alumnus

Thanks to this platform, alumni will be able to start discussions with one another; access opportunities for training, bursaries, professional development programs, and jobs; and keep up to date with French cultural and tourism-oriented events. For these former students, the Alumni network is also an opportunity to showcase the experience and education that they acquired in France, all while being part of a global network of international students.

This platform was launched on November 26th, 2014, by Laurent Fabius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and by Geneviève Fioraso, the Minister for Higher Education and Research. It is an initiative implemented and overseen by Campus France—a French organization dedicated to inter-university mobility—and its mission is carried out through one central hub and a number of local sites, which have been launched over time by French embassies around the world.
