From March 17-25, 2012, the Francophone world will be buzzing with excitement during the Semaine internationale de la langue française et de la francophonie, which is celebrated by the people around the world who ensure the vibrancy of the French language. This long-standing event is well known to Francophones and Francophiles of all stripes and, each year, results in a huge number of events organized around the world throughout the month of March. Canada is obviously one of the places with the largest celebrations.
This year, as always, the Embassy of France in Canada (Ottawa) will add its touch to the celebrations by working with several partners to offer a variety of activities to the public and students of French.
The Embassy’s events are part of a considerably larger slate of activities offered throughout Canada by countless members of Canada’s Francophonie – the number of activities celebrating the Francophonie in Canada in 2012 is too long to list in its entirety. The initiatives taken by associations, communities and institutions are all a reflection of Canada’s dynamic, imaginative and ever-present Francophonie.
