EDF Group (energy) signs a strategic partnership agreement with Enbridge regarding offshore wind farm projects

EDF Energies Nouvelles, a subsidiary of the EDF Group dedicated to renewable energy, announced on May 10, 2016, that it had signed a new partnership agreement with Enbridge Inc., one of the leaders in the North American energy sector, particularly in the renewable energy market. The agreement involves the development, construction, and operation of three French offshore wind farms representing a total of 1400MW of installed capacity. More information.

Novactive Canada joins the Kaliop Group (digital sector) to accelerate its growth

The Montreal-based web company Novactive Canada has developed a strategic partnership with the Kaliop Group, an independent digital services company specializing in open source Web technologies, and become Kaliop Canada. This represents the Kaliop Group’s first physical location in North America, which will enable it to expand its services into North America, while pursuing growth in Canada. OVA Design (design agency) opens a branch in Montreal

On May 12, 2016, Ova Design, a company that designs industrial products and interactive spaces and specializes in user experiences, celebrated its eight-year anniversary and announced that it was opening offices in Montréal. The decision to open these offices in Montréal follows a September 2015 visit involving a Silver Valley delegation (French accelerator dedicated to the “silver economy”) to Sherbrooke. This visit was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Commission permanente de cooperation franco-québécoise. More information (in French).

Transat A.T. Inc. receives a firm offer to purchase from TUAIG regarding its tour operator operations in France

Transat A.T. Inc. received a firm offer to purchase its tour operator operations in France (Transat France) and in Greece (Tour Greece) from TUIAG for a total corporate value of €54.5 million. The proposed transaction is still subject to approval by the European competition regulatory agencies, in addition to the advisory opinion of the Transat France representative committee. This transaction should be completed by October 31, 2016. Based in Paris, Transat France is the fourth-largest tour operator active in France, doing business under the Vacances Transat and Look Voyages brands. Transat established its operations in France as a tour operator in the 1980s. Look Voyages was acquired in 1996. TUI Group is the world leader in tourism, present in more than 180 destinations around the world. Its headquarters is in Germany. More information.

Drone Volt announces the commercial launch of its subsidiary Drone Volt Canada

Drone Volt, the French leader in professional-use drones, announced on June 1st, 2016, the commercial launch of its subsidiary, Drone Volt Canada. Announced in late 2015, this subsidiary was developed in partnership with Freeway Prod, a company specializing in camera work for the audiovisual industry. Created in 2009, Freeway Prod is among the pioneering users of private-use drones as photographic tools. In May 2016, DRONEVOLT Canada reported a first month of promising commercial activity, attesting to its significant potential for development in this new territory. More information (in French).
