Research in Paris: 2012 call for applications
Research in Paris is a selective programme to receive post-doctoral or senior researchers from abroad in Parisian public laboratories. Launched by the City of Paris, it aims to promote the international scientific appeal of research in Paris.
All disciplines are covered. Multidisciplinary research is encouraged, as well as research in emerging fields.
Strengthening the international scientific appeal of the capital is a policy priority for the city council. Since 2003, the City of Paris has been offering a selective programme for post-doctoral and senior researchers from abroad, enabling public laboratories in Paris to reinforce their collaborative work with other major cities.
Researchers from all disciplines are eligible. The scientific excellence of their application (applicant – project – host laboratory) is the main selection criterion for the experts on the City of Paris Scientific Committee responsible for considering the applications.
Grants and benefits for researchers
Approximately 2/3 of grants on the programme are awarded to post-doctoral researchers, with the remainder being awarded to senior researchers.
Post-doctoral applicants will have had their viva fewer than 5 years previously and senior researchers will have had their viva more than 5 years previously.
- € 2,500 monthly net for a 3-12 month stay for a post-doctoral researcher.
- € 3,000 monthly net for a 2-6 month stay for a senior researcher.
The final monthly instalment of the grant is conditional on submission of a report in French or English on the scientific work carried out during the stay (approximately 15 pages).
Return travel between the country of residence and Paris is covered at a fixed rate depending on the country of origin and subject to production of receipts for travel expenses incurred.
Health insurance for the researcher is also covered by the programme.
Researchers are entitled to help with administrative procedures and finding accommodation. Where a researcher is offered accommodation, he/she is however responsible for rent payments.
The office for foreign researchers at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris will contact all successful applicants to ascertain their requirements.
