he Smoking room, created by Eugène
Beaudouin, was originally destined to be a discussion room
following meals. It has since been reserved for interviews given
by the Ambassador to journalists or Canadian personalities.
To diminish the odour of tobacco, the entire room was covered
in birch bark, which confers upon it an astonishing natural look,
and which gave it the second name of “Birch Room.”
