Artists residencies programs of la Cité internationale universitaire de Paris runed by the Théâtre de la Cité internationale

Candidate’s profile

This residency program is designed principally for non-French artists, who wish to undertake a production, research or training residence in Paris.

Candidates must :

- have completed their initial training

- have started a professional activity and have proof of previous work

- be under 35 years old

Residency description

Situated in Paris, the CIUP is an international residence for students, researchers and artists of more than 120 nationalities. It includes 37 houses distributed in a wooded part together with collective facilities : a library, cultural activities, sport activities, a language lab system and restaurants. It’s a place for exchange between cultures, intellectual debate and creation.

In charge of the present residency program, the Téâtre de la Cité internationale is well known to the parisian audience. It presents contemporary creations in performing and visual arts.

Residency facilities

All expenses related to housing, workspace and meals must be dealt with by the artists who must find their own financial ressources :

- artists studios : one room with working area, living area and kitchen + bathroom (45 m2) – 645 /per month
- studios (for artistic work only) : from 10 m2 to 30 m2 : from 110 to 260 / per month
- room with bathroom : 482 / per month

The artists accepted at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris benefit from personalized support throughout their stay. Logistic and administrative hel and information are available. An introduction to the parisian cultural practioners can also be organised.

Resident artists have the possibility (after a special selection) to present their work to the public. Depending on their projects, artists may be granted with an exhibition space or a concert place and be assisted with their production.

Duration of stay : from 3 to 9 months maximum, between October 1st 2009 to June 30th 2010.

Selection process

The candidates are selected by a jury consisting of representatives of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, of cultural partners and professionals from the parisian artistic scene. The final results will be sent to each applicant by mail. (no phone call be answered to).
